Best time to visit Morocco

When is the best time of year to visit Morocco?

Morocco is best visited in the autumn (September-November) or early spring (March-April). The weather is pleasant, but you will escape the extremes of blazing heat and freezing nights.

No matter what time of year you come, Morocco has something unique to offer. Certainly, it might be quite hot in the summer, but what about the beautiful coasts and cool evenings? True, winter in the Alps may be very cold, but what about milder experiences in the Desert, fewer people, and lower visitor prices? While planning your trip to Morocco, there are a lot of crucial elements to consider, and, like at a good buffet, you’ll be able to choose the finest portions.

What is the best time to visit the Sahara?

More often in the fall (September–November) or early spring (March-early April). With blistering heat in the summer and freezing temperatures at night in the winter, avoiding these extremes will make your desert stay more pleasant. The dry landscapes may be great to explore in the seasons in between, but keep in mind that sudden sandstorms can happen in the desert, especially in April, and they are not fun to get stuck in. If you want to visit the desert at any time, bring additional clothing to protect your skin and face from the overhead sun and whirling sands. They’ll also help keep you warm at night, when temperatures may drop dramatically, even in the warmer months. Book your desert tours with Morocco Sahara Trips

When should you go to enjoy the coast?

Visitors rush to the shore between June and September, when high temperatures provide ideal beach weather. Consider visiting Tangier, Essaouira, and Taghazout at this time, possibly for a surf lesson or a morning yoga session. In August, water temperatures near Tangier often reach an excellent 25 °C (77 °F), making it great for swimming, socializing with locals, and feasting on chargrilled seafood on the waterfront. This may not be the image of Morocco you have in mind, but it is certainly lovely.

When to go to avoid crowds

Morocco is a popular tourist destination all year, but some times of the year see even more visitors. Due to the warm yet comfortable weather, inland tourist hubs like as Marrakech, Fes, and Chefchaouen are busiest throughout the fall and spring seasons. Tangier and Essaouira’s coastline districts are most popular during the summer, with sea breezes taking the edge off the searing temperatures and the opportunity to just jump in the water if you’ve overheated! In the fall and spring, mountainous locations and the Desert are especially popular.

If you don’t mind some freezing evenings and snow in the mountains, or inland temperatures that can become rather hot, the months of November-January or May-August are ideal for avoiding crowds.

When should you go to explore Islamic tradition?

Morocco’s population is mostly Islamic; thus, religious occasions throughout the year might have an impact on your travel plans, no matter where you are in the nation. One of these is Ramadan, whose dates change but usually happen in April or May. Ramadan is the ninth and holiest month in the Islamic calendar. Muslims all over the world celebrate it as a time to get spiritually refreshed, and they fast from sunrise to sunset.

Eid celebrates the conclusion of the fasting season with three days of eating and festivity. Over the time of Ramadan, anticipate a lot of restaurants, stores and other institutions to have adjusted hours, with the exception of hotels. There may be disruptions to your travel plan; but, this shouldn’t put you off going at this period! Hundreds or perhaps thousands of worshipers pour into local mosques for sunset prayers, then flood out into the streets and city marketplaces to eat their iftar (breaking the fast) feast. When to go to avoid the heat

It may come as no surprise, but Morocco can be very hot. Avoiding the midsummer frenzy is certainly a smart idea for individuals who are not comfortable with high temperatures. Summer temperatures may rise beyond 40 °C (104 °F), making it difficult for some people to travel and view the sites, particularly inland. If you appreciate warm but not too warm weather, fall (September–November) or spring are the ideal times to visit (March-May).
