Day 1: Tangier – Chefchaouen
On the first day of our 7-Day Trip from Tangier to Imperial Cities, we will pick you up from the airport or port and travel to Chfchaouen (the blue city) through the Rif mountains and Tetouan city, where you will be able to appreciate the breathtaking views of the highlands. Spend the night at your riad or hotel.
Day 2: Chefchaouen -Volubilis -Meknes -Fes
Following breakfast in the riad, our actual trip to Volubilis will begin, passing via Ouazan and other Rif towns. At Volubilis, we will explore the best-preserved Roman remains in Morocco and learn about the archaeological site’s Moroccan history.
Following seeing the ruins, we will continue to Meknes, a 17th-century heritage city, where we will stop for lunch and walk through the enormous medieval walls of the medina, including the bab el Mansour and Moulay Ismail tomb. After your excursion to Meknes, we will transport you immediately to Fes, where you will spend the night.
Day 3: Fes Sightseeing Tour with a local guide
Today you will be taken on a guided tour of Fes’ medina and famed souks, which are replete with ancient mosques and towering green-glazed minarets, as well as the distinctive Andalusian architecture in every part of the old city and its monuments.
We will make certain that you visit all cultural and historical places, including the famed Al Qaraouine University. The trip will also include stops at tanneries and a pottery cooperative to see traditional Moroccan crafts. Nights in a hotel or riad
Day 4: Fes – Azrou cedar woodland – Midelt – Merzouga (Erg Chebbi Dunes)
We will pick you up from your hotel or riad and travel south to Azrou through Ifrane (Morocco’s Switzerland) and then to the Middle Atlas highlands, stopping by a cedar forest to shoot some beautiful shots with the Barbarian Apes.
We’ll continue via the Atlas Mountains, admiring the scenery of Midelt. Following lunch, we’ll travel through the Ziz Valley to Erfoud, Rissani, and Merzouga. Spend the night at your neighborhood hotel.
Day 5: Merzouga and Camel Trekking, followed by a night in a desert tent
Following breakfast, we’ll begin our exploration of the region by visiting a community of black people originating from Mali to see their music and way of life.
Following that, we’ll travel to Miffis Mines to see how they function before heading beyond the dunes into a complete desert with stunning views to sit for a warm cup of tea with the local Bedouins.
After a cup of tea, your local guides will show you how to ride and disembark your camels, as well as other useful camel-related safety precautions, before you begin exploring the mystical Erg-Chebbi sand sea.
Day 6: Merzouga – Todgha Gorges – Dades Valley
During our 7-Day Tour from Tangier to Imperial Cities, we will leave early in the morning to see the finest sunrise of your life, creating varied shadows and hues across Morocco’s tallest dunes.
After breakfast, we will travel to Tinghir and the spectacular Todra Canyon, Morocco’s tallest and narrowest gorges, before returning to our desert accommodation. The gorge is ideal for trekking and lounging on the river’s side, as well as eating some traditional Berber specialties.
Following lunch in the middle of the canyon, we’ll travel through the Dades Valley, where we’ll spend the night at a lovely hotel on the mountain’s crest.
Day 7: Dades Valley – Ouarzazat – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Marrakech
Following breakfast at your accommodation, we will travel through the Dades Valley to Kalaa M’gouna (Rose City) and Ouarzazat. The drive through Dades Valley is the route of a thousand kasbahs, allowing ample possibilities to capture some of your greatest photography views of the trip.
Then, we will make a brief stop at the Atlas Movie Studio in Ouarzazate before driving to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, Morocco’s largest Kasbah, built by T-Hami El Glaoui, one of the last Berber chieftains in the early twentieth century, as one of his stops on his long journey from the Sahara to Marrakech.
A visit to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1987, Following lunch, we will continue on our journey via the high Atlas mountains with panoramic vistas and charming Berber towns until we arrive in Marrakech, where the 7-Day Tangier to Imperial Cities journey over the Sahara desert concludes.
