The itinerary of the 2-day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga.
Day 1: Marrakech- Ait Ben Haddou – Merzouga.
Your 2 day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga will begin with your driver from Morocco Sahara Trips company picking you up early in the morning at your hotel/riad in Marrakech and departing to the High Atlas mountains, passing through Tizi N’Tichka port with stops for panoramic views and photographing the Berber villages and its beautiful landscape.
Afterward, we proceed to Ait ben Haddou (fortified town), a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1986, where many renowned films have been shot, including Game of Thrones, Gladiator, The Jewel of the Nile, The Mummy…
Then we’ll continue on to the desert to the stunning dunes of Merzouga, where we’ll experience Camel trekking through the golden Erg Chebbi desert with a stop to watch the incredible sunset over the dunes, try Sandboarding in the sand if you’re interested, and enjoy the beautiful landscapes… until the sun goes down.
Next go to Berber Camp Merzouga, where you will be met with a drink of mint tea and will be able to rest until dinner time, after which there will be some traditional Berber drumming music around the fire, observe a magnificent starry sky, and finally sleep in a nomadic tented camp.
Day 2: Merzouga Desert – Rissani – Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
After witnessing the desert sunrise, we return to Merzouga on camels or, alternatively, in a 4×4 vehicle. After breakfast and a quick shower in the hotel, we begin our return trip to Marrakech, passing through the Berber villages of the Atlas Mountains (Nkoub, Agdez, etc.). This marks the conclusion of our 2-day desert excursion from Marrakech to Merzouga.
